HPP 'Perućica' is celebrating today 56 years of its existence and operation. The plant delivered the first volumes of electricity to Montenegrin electric power system in 1960 and it was named after the well Perućica that originates in its immediate vicinity.
Successful generation results marked the beginning of 2016 in the oldest large-scale power plant in Montenegro. Around 385.5 million of kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity was generated in the first quarter, which is 18 % more than planned, while 456 million of kWh was generated during the first four months. Positive generation trend and favourable hydrology is expected in the rest of the year and it is realistic for the annual electricity forecast of 920 GWh (gigawatt-hours) to be achieved.
HPP 'Perućica' ended the last year with generated 783 GWh, which represents a share of 27.28 % in the total electricity generation in the generating facilities of EPCG. Somewhat lower generation in 2015 is the result of poorer hydrology than in the year 2014. Precipitation during 2015 is 1525 lit/m2, which is 23% less than multiannual average of precipitation. Poor hydrology was particularly present during the second, third and fourth quarter when the precipitation was 45% lower than multiannual average – all of us remembers December without precipitation. In spite of poor hydrology, HPP 'Perućica' achieved good results owing to special efforts of all the employees in the power plant and reliability and operational availability was not questioned even in the last year.
Since its commissioning, HPP 'Perućica' has generated 48,067 GWh, i.e. on average 858 GWh per annum. The year 2010 was a record when 1,435 GWh was generated and delivered to the electric power system.
During the last year over two million euros were invested in procurement and installation of equipment. Owing to well-planned regular and investment maintenance, as well as to multimillion investments, operational availability and reliability of hydropower system of 'Perućica' is continuously at a high level. In the next period Elektroprivreda Crne Gore will also be oriented to the investments in reconstruction, modernization and increase of capacities of the generating facilities in its system.
Personnel of HPP 'Perućica' of 160 employees make immeasurable contribution to successful functioning of the system who, with their responsible and highly professional relation towards the work, make this facility achieve excellent generation results even after more than half of a century.
On the occasion of anniversary of HPP 'Perućica' Voluntary Blood Donors Club of EPCG organized the campaign of donation of precious liquid in the Company's Head Office in Nikšić. This is the fourth campaign of Voluntary Blood Donors Club of EPCG in this year in which 65 blood donors participated.
HPP 'Perućica' is located in the north of Bjelopavlići plain. For electricity generation HPP Perućica uses waters of the river Gornja Zeta, i.e. waters that flow from the Nikšić field to its turbines, under favourable water head, covering short distance. System of HPP Perućica, whose installed capacity amounts to 307 MW includes reservoirs 'Krupac', 'Slano' and retention 'Vrtac' and a part of the HPP 'Perućica' system also includes five small hydropower plants located on the territory of Podgorica, Kolašin, Cetinje and Šavnik with annual electricity generation of about 6 million kWh (kilowatt-hours).
